Co-developed by Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay with applied theatre practitioner and counsellor Rosie McGowan, INTERMISSION is a one-day programme for artists and creative practitioners of all disciplines to focus on their mental and emotional wellbeing.
This one-day programme will take you through sessions at various venues around Esplanade, where you will be invited to an immersive and experiential journey through music, drama or movement to explore the themes of Germination, Growth, and Grounding in a safe space – planting and nurturing the seeds of self-care, both professionally and personally.

Rosemary McGowan
Rosemary (Rosie) comes from an extensive history of using drama and theatre to explore potentially difficult and sensitive themes and issues. She has two Masters Degrees in both Applied Theatre and in Counselling and often combines her knowledge of these two fields throughout her practice. As a freelance applied theatre practitioner, facilitator and educator, Rosie has taught drama in numerous schools in Singapore, both in curriculum and CCA. She runs workshops and projects exploring themes of self-care, sexual assault trauma, self-harm, communication, leadership and understanding mental health.
Lou Platt
Lou is a Creative Arts Psychotherapist, Internal Family Systems Practitioner and Clinical Supervisor with 19 years experience of working with adults in private practice and private mental health hospitals, specialising in trauma recovery, eating disorders, addictions, depression and anxiety. She has been working as an Artist Wellbeing practitioner both in film, TV and theatre since 2012, and is the founder and director of The Artist Wellbeing Company Ltd. She is passionate about helping those working in the creative industries refind a sense of flow and ease in their craft, by helping individuals and teams identify their blocks and discovering strategies to regain a sense of confidence, connection and compassionate understanding.
Ambre Lee
Ambre is a pioneering drama therapist (HCPC, ANZACATA, BADth) in Singapore, a creative facilitator, and a multidisciplinary artist passionate about empowering individuals to discover their language of expression and inner power. Her work draws on various frameworks, understandings, and practices, underpinned by trauma-informed approaches. At its core, her practice stems from a desire to create shifts through connection, empowerment, creativity, expression, and compassion.
Chan Shi Han
Shi Han is a Dance Movement Psychotherapist and experienced Counsellor. She is the founder of Movemental, a social enterprise in Singapore that is dedicated to helping individuals and communities heal and thrive through creative embodied approaches. Shi Han has spearheaded various Dance Movement Therapy (DMT) programs in schools and non-profit organizations and enjoys nurturing a small team to improve access to DMT in Singapore. In addition, Shi Han teaches the Psychology and Expressive Arts Therapy programs at the Singapore University of Social Sciences and provides clinical DMT to adults and youths at the Institute of Mental Health.
Evelyn Lee
Evelyn graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Master's in Music therapy in 2012 and a Bachelor of Arts (Music & Psychology), with a concentration in neuropsychology. She also served two terms as President of the Association for Music Therapy (Singapore). Evelyn is an avid clinician interested in community music therapy, dementia, and the impact of music-making on the elderly as part of preventative mental health care. She has received advanced training in Neurologic Music Therapy and Music Psychotherapy of Guided Imagery and Music.
