For the first time in Singapore, the National Theatre will be staging its Olivier and Tony Award-winning production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, jointly presented by Singapore Repertory Theatre and Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay. Together with Kim Pearce, Resident Director of Curious, join us for a series of workshops that aim to deepen your knowledge and appreciation of Simon Stephen’s award-winning play.

TEACHER’S WORKSHOP “ADAPTATION FOCUS” – 5 APR, THU
This creative workshop is a practical and interactive demonstration of how the actors and directors work in rehearsals to unlock the script allowing teachers to step into the world of Curious and be introduced to how the text was adapted for the stage. It’s perfect for teachers and practitioners who work with young people and wish to expand their knowledge of the text and in turn, be able to share and support these new insights with their students.

  • Participants will learn how to use a range of exercises to support students in exploring a text
  • Participants will understand how a creative team approaches a production
  • Recommended for drama teachers and practitioners

YOUTH WORKSHOP “INSIDE THE REHEARSAL ROOM” – 6 APR, FRI
Led by Kim Pearce, Resident Director of Curious, “Inside the Rehearsal Room” takes participants on a journey of understanding how the creative team collaborated on this production. This workshop allows the participants to gain insights of a professional director’s rehearsal process and to develop their understanding of how both the actors and director work in rehearsals to unlock the script and bring it to life.

  • Participants will gain an overview of how the creative team approach a play like Curious Incident
  • Participants will learn how to explore and action a text as actors
  • Participants will develop skills in analysing theatre
  • Participants will understand how collaboration and ensemble work underpins our approach to the show
  • Recommended for 16 – 25 year-olds with training in theatre and performance
