You’ve heard sound effects before, but have you seen how sound effects are created live during a theatre performance? That’s what a foley artist does, and Candy House in the Mountain features a foley artist!
Let your imagination take flight through the beauty of Mandarin storytelling and captivating live music and sound effects!
Bon Appétit Theatre brings you on an enchanting and eye-opening journey through a reimagining of beloved children’s classic Hansel and Gretel, told through an enchanting blend of storytelling with music and sound effects created live on stage. Family audiences with young children can expect a fun and unique experience that harnesses the power of language and sound to explore the emotional depths of the classic tale. Audience members also get to participate in creating sound effects during the show!
Presented with young audiences in mind as an engaging and easy-to-follow Mandarin story, Candy House in the Mountain makes meaningful connections between the enduring themes of Hansel and Gretel and the current issues of today, creating a sense of shared understanding and empathy.
Interested in trying it out for yourself? Families can also enjoy a hands-on foley experience in a Parent-Child Workshop: Soundscapes of Imagination, where participants explore how sound effects can be created using everyday objects, and use their imagination to create their own unique stories.
