Synopsis

What is destiny?

 

Is it shaped by our actions, the choices we make—or by chance, like the roll of a dice?

 

Or is destiny simply who we become? 

 

FLOW is a musical expression of this very dance between choice and chance, and how we navigate conflict and approach crossroads in our lives. It is an exploration of music and heritage, in which Lalit Kumar captures this narrative by masterfully blending the rich traditions of the tabla with his vision as a progressive world music producer and performer. 

 

This evocative ensemble presentation weaves intricate rhythms and expressive melodies into a musical mosaic that honours the past while embracing the future, reflecting on the constant evolution of music and life. Each piece in FLOW captures a unique moment—be it reflection, emotion, or a leap of faith—inviting audiences to experience this voyage of discovery: to embrace the ebb and flow and to find one’s own current within the ever-changing stream of life.

Artist Information

Lalit Kumar

Lalit Kumar is a versatile Singapore-based producer, percussionist, performance artist, and educator whose practice bridges Indian classical traditions with global sounds. Trained in the intricacies of the tabla and Indian classical music at the Temple of Fine Arts (Singapore), he further expanded his musicality in composition, Latin percussion, and flamenco at the esteemed Berklee College of Music.

 

A recipient of the Berklee Scholarship and National Arts Council postgraduate scholarship, Lalit has performed and collaborated worldwide—from India and Europe to Australia and Southeast Asia—sharing the stage with acclaimed artists across genres. His creative work as a music producer fuses progressive world music and electro-ethnic styles, crafting immersive soundscapes that push the boundaries of artistic expression. Lalit’s passion for teaching keeps him actively engaged in nurturing the next generation of percussionists at the Temple of Fine Arts.
