TEMALANG – A Celebration of Dikir Singapura is a vibrant one-day festival that breathes new life into a traditional art form, celebrating its rich heritage while actively pushing its boundaries for modern audiences. By bringing together groundbreaking performances, dynamic cross-border collaborations, and interactive community workshops, the festival creates an accessible, forward-thinking platform that redefines how dikir barat is perceived and presented. Rather than viewing the discipline solely through a competitive lens, TEMALANG expands the horizon, offering artists fresh collaborative avenues to innovate, and inviting diverse audiences to experience the rhythm, unity and poetic energy of dikir barat in new ways.

Presented for the very first time, TEMALANG hopes to position dikir barat as a dynamic and evolving art form within Singapore’s cultural landscape. TEMALANG 2026 is jointly presented by Norazam Hakub (Andika Kencana) and the Singapore Dikir Barat Federation (GABUNGAN) in celebration of 50 years of dikir barat in Singapore, with the support of the National Arts Council and the Tote Board Arts Fund – Better Everyday.
