Kaneko Ayano is a Japanese singer-songwriter, who first garnered attention as a solo artist performing with just her voice and an acoustic guitar, and more recently with her band kanekoayano with guitarist Hirotoshi Hayashi and bassist takuyaiizuka.
She released her first acoustic solo CD hug in April 2016 and her first 12-inch vinyl record Muretachi in September 2017. Since the 2018 release of band album Shukusai and solo album Shukusai Hitori de ni (Shukusai Alone), she has released four albums recorded with the band and four acoustic albums with solo re-recordings of the same songs.
In 2021, Ayano sold out the 10-000 person arena Nippon Budokan in Tokyo. In 2023, she released her new album A towel blanket is peaceful, as well as a vocal and guitar recording of the same opus, titled A towel blanket is peaceful Hitori de ni (A towel blanket is peaceful. alone). In the same year, she played a two-day show at Nippon Budokan and performed as the sub-headliner on the White Stage at Fuji Rock 2023.
In April 2024, she released her new songs Lucky and I’m not sad (Sabishikunai).
In 2024, following her show at the Hibiya Open-Air Concert Hall in Tokyo in August, she announced that the supporting members who had been performing with her would become official band members. Thus, they began their activities as the band kanekoayano.
