The Mus’Art Wind Orchestra (MWO) is a musical group under the wing of the Jurong Green Community Club. Formed in 1998, MWO has had 23 illustrious years of bringing quality music, to music-lovers and the community.
Under the baton of the music director, Wilson Ong, the orchestra holds several public concerts of various themes, successfully marrying different art forms and drawing audiences from vast backgrounds. The orchestra has enjoyed sold out performances featuring music from games, animation, musicals and has worked with international artists like Francis Yip.
MWO also actively participated in international concerts and competitions and is a recipient of the Gold Award in the first division of the 16th WMC in 2009.
To actively recruit band enthusiasts, the Mus’Art Youth Wind Orchestra (MYWO) was also formed to provide an avenue for younger musicians to experience a community ‘music-making’ experience.
In 2017, the MYWO took part in their first World Music Contest (WMC) in Kerkrade and achieved a distinction award and was the top three in the third division of the 18th WMC in 2017.
As part of the holistic approach to the education system, MWO aims to inspire and nurture young musicians, enthusiastic amateurs and dedicated music lovers.
