Synopsis

Masala Chai  is a multi-sensory storytelling experience that celebrates cultural heritage and emotional connection through the act of brewing tea. The story revolves around Anya and her grandmother, Aatha, who makes the best masala chai—soothing, calming, and all things delicious! Whenever Anya feels down, Aatha always comes to the rescue with the bestest, world’s most loveliest cup of masala chai.

One day, Anya gets really upset. Lately, Aatha can’t even seem to remember her some days. Anya believes that brewing the tea, just like Aatha used to, might help bring her grandmother back… if only she could remember the steps and ingredients too!

Masala Chai  highlights the shared yet unique cultural practices of different racial communities, creating a space for audiences to reflect on the act of intergenerational love, and the act of preserving and sharing heritage.

This showcase consists of a participative performance and a facilitated discussion with the artists.
