Synopsis

Rentas is a collaborative residency programme presented as part of Gemadah – Traditional Malay Music Festival. Violinist Ahmad Musta’in, under the mentorship of composer and artist Aidil Akmal, will work closely to develop new compositions inspired not only by the rhythms and melodies of traditional Malay music, but also its spirit, values, and subtle nuances. They will be joined by Fadhli Ramlee, who will lead the artistic direction of the concert.

Discover sounds that reflect the strong affinity between the musicians, their instruments, and the music they create. Driven by a shared desire to refine and redefine the boundaries of traditional music in today’s dynamic landscape, the ensemble seeks to inspire the next generation through creation and innovation.

Witness this intergenerational exchange and the vibrant energy of their collaboration as they present their work in Rentas

Gemadah – Traditional Malay Music Festival is presented by Persatuan Pemuzik Tradisional Melayu Singapura in collaboration with Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay as part of Esplanade's Pentas series.
