Inspired by the book Line and Dot written by Véronique Cauchy and illustrated by Laurent Simon, we hope to develop a shared theatrical play experience where children are invited into the world of Line and Dot. The children become active agents of this experience by taking on a “performative” role, by being Line or Dot. The choices they make with every encounter propels their story-making journey, leaving a sense of discovery of their own bodies and its transformative and creative expressions— appreciating the diversity of bodies as they create tableaux with others.
Incubated at The Artground under the GroundBreakers programme 2022, this iteration at PLAYlab 2024 explores a different audience participatory framework.
This showcase will consist of a performance and a facilitated discussion with the artists.
About PLAYlab
This showcase is part of PLAYlab, A developmental platform targeting artists or collectives interested in Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) for children twelve years old and under. PLAYlab aims to provide opportunities for research and development in the creation of new ideas for TYA productions. Artists received support to develop their work under the guidance of PLAYlab Artistic Associate, Ellison Tan Yuyang.
