Synopsis

Currently based in New York, Sean Hong Wei returns to Singapore for the summer break with some of his favourite musicians for this year’s Jazz in July. Do expect an evening of hard swingin’ tunes and beautiful ballads with his trio which features Sharik Hasan on piano and NY-based Ravi Campbell on guitar. Don’t miss out on this stellar line-up of musicians!

Artist Information

Sean Hong Wei

Sean Hong Wei has emerged as one of the young cornerstones of his generation in Singapore’s jazz scene. He is a saxophonist, composer, bandleader, and a long-time member of both the Jazz Association of Singapore’s (JASS) Youth and main orchestra.

 

In his work with JASS, he has shared the stage with jazz luminaries such as master Benny Golson, Randy Brecker, Antonio Hart, Lewis Nash, Justin Faulkner, Tony Lakatos, Alex Sipiagin, and Carmen Bradford.

 

His upcoming debut album with his mentor, pianist Jeremy Monteiro, features Jay Anderson, Evan Sherman, Alex Sipiagin and Houston Person.

 

Sean’s playing invokes the spirit of the great jazz masters of the ’50s and ‘60s through his thoughtful melodies and soulful, huge sound on the tenor saxophone.
