Often associated with his world-famous orchestra, Count Basie’s virtuosity and his legacy in the blues and boogie woogie are arguably less talked about. Join the Amanda Lee Swingtet as they celebrate the multiple facets of this gifted pianist, composer and bandleader as they share their fresh arrangements of iconic tunes from the Basie Book.
No tickets will be issued. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Amanda Lee Swingtet
Amanda Lee | Raf Mahmood | Judy Tsai
Known for their fun-loving camaraderie and playful dexterity, the Amanda Lee Swingtet are on a mission to share the music, history and personalities of the roots of jazz and are delighted to be back at Jazz in July for their third time.
The group is led by Singaporean jazz pianist Amanda Lee who has been making her mark as a torchbearer of swing, stride piano and early jazz. Trained in Kansas City under master stride pianist Bram Wijnands, she is thrilled to have performed to local and international audiences including Gotham Jazz Festival, Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Singapore Night Festival and, later this month for the first time, Ubud Village Jazz Festival.
