Synopsis
Pianist and lecturer Jonathan Yeo plays a repertoire of solo piano music. It opens with three shimmering Barcarolles by Fauré, followed by the Singapore premiere of Edward MacDowell’s Sonata No. 3, Op. 57 “Norse” (1900). After an intermission, there will be a complete performance of Debussy’s Preludes, Book I (1910), with an ample display of tone colors on the piano.
With MacDowell being the most one of the most important American composers before the modern era (e.g Jazz and Gershwin), this is a rare opportunity to witness his unique, rollicking style of music.
