Synopsis
Do you like animals? Did you know that there were many classical pieces which were inspired by animals?
If you're keen to find out more then join us for an afternoon of music featuring pieces like 'Walking the dog' written by American jazz composer George Gershwin, alongside Rameau's 'La Poule' (The Hen) and Rimsky-Korsakov's famous 'The Flight of the Bumblebee'. Other pieces from composers like Bartok, Scriabin, Grieg and Copland will ensure that no animal is left out! To round off the afternoon, we will come together to perform Saint Saens' humorous 'The Carnival of Animals' for 2 pianos, which includes the famous and elegant 'The Swan'.
This is a perfect event for families with children above the ages of 5, especially those who have a keen interest in animals. Children who attend will be given a special interactive programme booklet and there will be a quiz at the end of the show with prizes to be won! So join us for a fun-filled adventure in this Carnival of Animals!
