Installation view of Reflections, Ryan Lim Zi Yi, 2026.

Synopsis

Reflections brings together an installation of window projections, a row of streetlamps and a group of swarmers. Drawn from everyday encounters, Ryan Lim’s works begin with familiar yet overlooked moments: light reflected through a window as it moves predictably across a room over the course of a day, or the sudden appearance of swarmers gathering around public streetlamps after a heavy rain. By translating these ordinary phenomena into sculptural and spatial forms, the exhibition draws attention to occurrences that unfold in the background of daily life.

Accompanying these works is a solitary swarmer whose visits into domestic spaces become a means of reflecting on existential discomfort and uncertainty as he bears witness to the anxieties of human beings within the steady rhythms of a life that constantly moves forward.
