Synopsis
A middle-aged, Korean drama-obsessed widow from Singapore travels out of the country for the first time to Seoul and ends up getting lost. What follows is an unexpected, wild adventure of unlikely bonds and self-discovery. Beyond her roles as daughter, wife and mother—who is she really?
Director He Shuming’s warm, quietly funny and deeply moving debut feature stars veteran Singaporean actress Hong Huifang alongside Korean actor Jung Dong-hwan. Produced by Anthony Chen, Ajoomma is the first official Singapore-South Korea co-produced feature film.
The film made its world premiere in the New Currents competition at the Busan International Film Festival and received four nominations at the Golden Horse Awards, including Best New Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Leading Actress and Best Supporting Actor. It was also selected as Singapore's official submission to the 95th Academy Awards and won the Best Film Award in the Southeast Asian Feature Competition at the BaliMakarya Film Festival.
