Synopsis

Remix: Zapin Battle — Three Waves. One Heritage.

Three shows.

Three musical waves.

One unshakable root — zapin.

From its Arab beginnings to the eras of pop yeh yeh, dangdut, slow rock, reggaeton, rock, jazz and industrial electronica, this battle-inspired production traces the cultural currents that have shaped the Malay community in Singapore.

Tradition does not stand still.

It moves.

It transforms.

It fights to be heard.

Team Black: The Roots & Early Waves (7pm)

Where it all began.

A journey through foundational sounds — from Arab musical traditions to the golden age of Malay pop and dangdut. Here, zapin honours the rhythms and melodies that built its identity.

This is heritage in its purest pulse.

Team White: Romance, Rhythm & Reinvention (8.15pm)

When emotion meets evolution.

From heart-tugging slow rock ballads to infectious Latin urban grooves, zapin bends, blends and pushes forward. Nostalgia collides with modernity in a vibrant cultural exchange.

This is zapin in conversation with the world.

Team Black vs Team White: Remix Battle (9.30pm)

No more sides. Only sound.

Raw. Experimental. Unapologetic.

Rock distortion. Jazz improvisation. Tribal-industrial intensity.

Zapin stands at the crossroads — proving that tradition is not fragile.

It is fearless.

Three Performances.

One Living Tradition.

Witness the evolution.

Feel the Remix: Zapin Battle.

Celebrate the waves that shaped us — and the rhythm that carries us forward.
