The Old Guard Jazz Quartet
Synopsis
The Old Guard Jazz Quartet brings together four long-time colleagues from Singapore’s band and jazz scenes as they play early jazz tunes and a New Orleans-inspired jazz set.
Drawing on the lively ensemble traditions of early jazz, the quartet focuses on musical conversation rather than virtuosic display. Listen for the counterpoint—horn lines weaving through one another, the tuba grounding the harmony, and the drums providing rhythm and structure—as the group revisits early jazz classics with warmth and spontaneity.
Relaxed, accessible and full of ensemble interplay, this performance offers audiences a glimpse into the world of jazz—built on listening, movement and the joy of four musicians establishing a deep, collective groove. Featuring Vincent Tan on the clarinet, Vignesh s/o Mohandasan on the trumpet, Ho Law Wei on the tuba and sousaphone, and Dr Eugene Seow on the drums.
