Synopsis

The Opera People celebrate their longstanding collaboration with composer Jonathan Shin and writer Joel Tan in a special performance featuring highlights from works commissioned by both artists. The programme includes excerpts from A Bestiary of Imagined Monsters and their ongoing opera commission, Beacon. It also showcases selected earlier works by Jonathan Shin written for The Opera People, exploring his relationship with poetry and text. Performed by sopranos Cherie Tse and Sim Weiying, with Jonathan Shin at the piano, the evening will be interspersed with conversations between Shin and Tan, offering audiences insight into their creative partnership and artistic process.
