Esplanade Concourse
Come experience a kaleidoscope of Chinese classical music with Mohamed Faizal on the guzheng and Yen Chien on the pipa. Together with multi-talented percussionist Rudi who plays the Indian tabla and Malay rebana, the trio form multi-ethnic band Singapore Rojak.
Through their musical artistry, Mohamed Faizal and Yen Chien reimagine familiar favourites like Moonlit Night over the Spring River 《春江花月夜》 and Butterfly Lovers 《梁祝》, in an evening of elegance that celebrates the celebrates the richness and beauty of the repertoire.
Mohamed Faizal
A talented and experienced guzheng player, Mohamed Faizal has performed both locally and internationally, showcasing music from various genres and cultures, garnering high praise and admiration. His diverse playing style has inspired guzheng players worldwide, particularly in China, with many incorporating his approach into their music arrangements and compositions.
Chin Yen Chien
Chin Yen Chien began learning the pipa at the age of 10 and quickly gained recognition, winning top awards in multiple local and regional competitions such as the inaugural Chinese Music Competition, and the National Music Competition organised by the National Arts Council. Over the years, he has represented Singapore at various international arts events and cultural exchanges, including performances in India, Thailand, and Malaysia. In 2018, Yen Chien and his multi-ethnic ensemble, Art Dè Trio, performed at the Singapore Festival in Moscow, where they received praise from the Singapore ambassador to Moscow.
