As the year draws to a close, Between the Lines and the Lyrics offers a thoughtful moment to pause and reflect on the many challenges and milestones we’ve faced. Through the emotional landscapes and storytelling power of musical theatre, we seek to understand the complexity of the past year. Each song becomes a lens to explore our shared experiences—highlighting resilience, hope and the human spirit amid adversity. Embark on a journey through the depth and nuance of stage music, reflecting on the past and anticipating what lies ahead.

Ivan Choong began his career in Singapore’s performing arts scene with Dream Academy’s 2012 staging of the musical Company, which was nominated for The Straits Times Life! Theatre Awards Production of the Year in 2013. He has since worked professionally as an actor, singer, and playwright and has been fortunate to have collaborated and learn from industry practitioners across theatre, opera, and film including Singapore Lyric Opera, The Finger Players, The Necessary Stage, Couch Theatre, Toy Factory and The Second Breakfast Company.

 

He is accompanied by Pauline Lee on piano—a chamber musician, accompanist and répétiteur who has performed both individually and with a range of soloists and opera companies in Singapore and abroad.
