Enjoy the liveliness of the violin, the soothing sounds of the viola and the meditations of the viola da gamba accompanied by the rich tones of the theorbo, cornett and sackbut in a performance that spotlights the music from the early and mid-baroque period from composers such as Couperin and Biber. Plus, you’ll get to hear composer Phang Kok Jun’s unique reimagination of baroque dance music in the Singaporean context.
The performances in Cool Classics 2025 will spotlight local composers and arrangers, highlighting their contributions to classical music in Singapore. The local composer featured in this programme is Phang Kok Jun.
Placida Ho
A musician unconfined by genre and tradition, Placida Ho performs professionally on both the violin and viola. She has performed a repertoire ranging from historically informed performances of orchestral and chamber music with the Red Dot Baroque, Orchestra of the 18th Century and fusion baroque with Holland Baroque to Stockhausen’s Licht with the Dutch National Opera. Inspired by her teacher Ryo Terakado, she plays the violin (her first love), the viola, the violone, and most recently, the viola da gamba. She enjoys teaching and learning from her violin and viola students, both young and old.
