Two bodies, one rope, lines in space.

 

This year, 微 Wei Collective brings together independent theatre practitioner Jo Kwek and dance artist Chew Shaw En to present Transition《移》where they explore connections, isolations and the in-between transitions, seeking for the strongest line at the Esplanade Concourse.

 

微 Wei Collective is excited to return to eXchAnge this year after presenting Transit《步》in 2023, a contemplation on the act of walking.

 

With Transition《移》, they are searching for the strongest line in the concourse space through movement and material.

Theatre practitioners Liu Yong Huay and Neo Hai Bin formed the 微 Wei Collective in 2017. Liu is a lighting designer by practice, while Neo is an actor and a writer. Their interest lies in the performance of space, and how the combination of materials and movement can allow one to experience the breath of a space. They believe in taking time to dive into the overlooked, the subtle and the negligible, finding depth in these details.

 

This year they are joined by independent theatre practitioner Jo Kwek and dance artist Chew Shaw En on Transition 移.

Chew Shaw En is a performer, interdisciplinary maker and facilitator. Shaw works from the perspective of the body. Her practice stretches across mediums of body, material, image, text and movement.
