Esplanade Concourse
Audiences can look forward to experiencing the Japanese version of the zither, which originated from the guzheng, and hearing the differences in timbre and music composition style.
This performance will feature Japanese classical and contemporary music by renowned koto masters Michio Miyagi and Sawai Tadao. They will also be playing Japanese folk songs like Sakura Sakura, and a traditional koto piece composed 350 years ago.
No tickets will be issued. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
KotoKottoN
Founded in 2009 by Ms Kitai Saeko, KotoKotton is a koto ensemble based in Singapore that holds weekly practices, even during university holidays. Ms Kitai, a Japanese language teacher at the Centre for Language Studies at the National University of Singapore (NUS), is also a qualified teacher from the Sawai Koto School (沢井箏曲院). The ensemble includes dedicated and passionate members both from NUS and beyond, and their dynamic repertoire comprises of both traditional and contemporary compositions. KotoKotton regularly participates in various cultural and private events.
