Forecourt Garden, Concourse, Courtyard
A surging band of bodies and percussive sounds, para para is a celebratory rumpus that explores rhythm with movement and sound.
A parade but smaller. The smallest. Make it two, in accompaniment of one another. A hand reaching out, a hand reaching back. “Para” a cute sound. para para.
A rousing of the transient public spaces in and around Esplanade, para para blurs the lines between performer, participant and onlooker. This performance is a task in search of collective movement and joy.

Shaw is an artist, facilitator and performer who works from the perspective of the body. Her multidisciplinary practice spans different and overlapping contexts, ranging from medium-specific to socially engaged. She works with performance score, task-based devising and improvisation. In spaces where she directs and choreographs, Shaw draws upon fiction, the vernacular and her experiences on the ground within community spaces, in order to evoke imagery, metaphor and concepts that guide her creations. She is interested in the rehearsal as a practice that allows us to explore new ways of being with a group of people.
