Synopsis

Maya Nova is a Bulgarian jazz vocalist whose voice reflects a blend of European lyricism and contemporary New York jazz influences. For her Jazz in July showcase, she presents original music accompanied by Duncan McKee on piano and Richmond Lip on bass.

Bulgarian-born jazz vocalist Maya Nova is a songwriter and educator whose career spans Europe, Asia and the United States. A graduate of Bulgaria’s National Academy of Music, she holds a Master of Arts (MA) in Jazz Vocal Performance from Queens College in New York and a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Jazz Studies from Stony Brook University. Having released two albums, Open (2010) and Days (2015), Maya continues to perform internationally while directing musical programmes and mentoring students in Singapore.
