Synopsis

Join singer-songwriters and musicians Martina Ng, Neo Ming Wei and Gwen Lee as they perform heartfelt songs composed by youths from Singapore Girls’ Home who participated in Esplanade’s Songwriting for Hope programme, as well as some of their original works. Each song tells the story of a youth who dared to dream and hope, despite their challenges and fears.

Songwriting for Hope is a community engagement programme organised by Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, in partnership with Diamonds On The Street. The programme aims to provide youths at risk with the opportunity to express themselves creatively through the art of songwriting. Through a series of workshops, participants learn song crafting skills, with the aim of turning their unique stories into songs of hope.

This performance will showcase a good mix of songs from the performers, as well as those written by at-risk youth. Be inspired by original compositions that remind audiences never to give up when life’s challenges get too great.
