Music exists within the context of society and the social mores and constructs of its time. This spontaneous creation, drawn from the collective subconscious of four contemporary improvisors, navigates the constraints of song form to offer a rich terrain for exploration and discovery.
Audiences can expect a sound that borders the challenging and the familiar.
Thomas Wayne
Thomas Wayne, known as T'Wayne, has made a significant impact on the Singapore music scene over the past 12 years. His innovative drumming style, and energetic performances have inspired young musicians and contributed to the vibrant, evolving landscape of Singapore's music culture.
Namie Rasman
Namie Rasman grew up inspired by jazz greats such as Sarah Vaughan, Billie Holiday, and Miles Davis. She often collaborates across different art forms and performs in different musical outfits, showing her versatility and creativity. Her music can be heard under her solo name, NAMIE, and with her band, Namie & The Waves.
Eugene Chew
Eugene Chew is a versatile musician unbound by musical labels. Proficient on both electric bass and double bass, he has worked as a performer, composer, arranger, musical director, producer and educator with various acts, ensembles and companies in Singapore and abroad since beginning his career in 2014. He received his formal musical education as a scholar in Double Bass Performance at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Guennadi Mouzyka.
His performance credits include Jazz Association Singapore Orchestra, Metropolitan Festival Orchestra, Re:sound Collective, Singapore Armed Forces Band, Music & Drama Company, Flame of The Forest, Open Score Project, SHAK and many others. In his personal artistic endeavours, he leads his band, Litmus Jazz Ensemble, and is also a full-time member of the Lorong Boys.
Joshua Wan
Joshua Wan has been a familiar face in the Singapore music scene for the last 35 years as pianist, arranger, producer, educator and keyboardist with nu-soul groups The Steve McQueens, Alpaca and Muse-X.
