South Korean pianist, composer and educator Jaehun Kang is the Jury Prize winner of the 2010 Jarasum International Jazz Competition and a semi-finalist for the 2016 Parmigiani Montreux Jazz Solo Piano Competition. He holds a Master of Music from the Juilliard School, where he studied under Wynton Marsalis, Frank Kimbrough, Kenny Barron and Rodney Jones.
Kang has performed at numerous festivals, including EFG London Jazz Festival, Enjoy Jazz Festival, Budapest Jazz Festival, Jarasum Jazz Festival and Seoul Jazz Festival. He has shared the stage with jazz legends such as Jimmy Heath, Lewis Nash, Russell Malone, Vincent Herring, Eric Alexander.
Selected as 2021 Rising Star by Jazz People magazine, he actively leads the Jaehun Kang Trio. In 2023, his trio collaborated with legendary jazz guitarist Russell Malone and toured South Korea with the programme Gershwin Songbook (2023) and Ellington Songbook (2024).
Currently, Kang teaches jazz piano and coaches ensembles in the Jazz Performance department at Hanyang University.
