Come and be a part of a special concert showcase featuring the Voices Festival Choir, comprising some of Singapore’s best and most avid youth choristers. Rounding up a week of educational workshops, rehearsals and performances, the Festival Choir performs a repertoire of celebratory and evocative music from around the world, centered around themes of hope, joy, gratitude and faith. The Voices Festival Choir will also be premiering Kenneth Tay's O love that will not let me go, published by Muziksea.
Voices Festival Choir
Esplanade’s Voices Festival Choir is an auditioned group of youth choristers aged 17 – 26, who participated in a series of activities leading up to and during Voices 2023. The Festival Choir spent the week engaging in a variety of rehearsal styles, being exposed to a diversity of choral and vocal styles and gained a better understanding their nuances. Facilitated by Singaporean choral music educators from MI6, the Festival Choir learnt from and will perform with a number of different choral artists, including MI6 themselves, as well as international choral groups Die Singphoniker and London Community Gospel Choir. The Festival Choir will also perform the world premiere of Singaporean composer Kenneth Tay’s O Love that will not let me go, published by MuzikSEA.
MI6
MI6 (Musicians’ Inc. 6) are a group of six Singaporean choral conductors and music educators who have found in each other, a strong friendship through music-making. The group comprises Cherie Chai, Choy Siew Woon, Dawn Yin, Low Xu Hao, Terrence Toh and Yong Chee Foon, who hail from different choral backgrounds and serve actively in Singapore’s education scene as conductors of several primary, secondary, pre-tertiary, tertiary and community choirs. The conductors often collaborate with each other and across schools, to create new learning experiences for young choristers, exploring a wide range of choral repertoire. They share a common dedication towards doing their part in maintaining a healthy and balanced choral ecosystem, and are thankful for the privilege of guiding their students through their musical and personal journeys.
MuzikSEA
MuzikSEA is the first fully digital choral music publisher and distributor from Southeast Asia. Based in Singapore, MuzikSEA works to promote composers and arrangers from all over the region.
