Artist Information

Voices Festival Choir

The inaugural Voices Festival Choir is an auditioned choir of youth choristers aged 17 – 26, who participated in a series of pre-festival and festival activities at Voices – A Festival of Song 2022. Choristers experienced a variety of rehearsal styles and were exposed to a variety of choral/vocal styles to better understand their nuances. The Voices Festival Choir learnt from international choral artists (The King’s Singers) and will perform with homegrown and international a cappella groups (MICappella, 1023 and Acapellago), as well as Singaporean choral music educators (MI6), who served as the main facilitators of the project.

The Voices Festival Choir is targeted for inspiring youth choristers and includes various aspects of choral singing that they may have missed out on due to the pandemic. This programme also creates opportunities in linking youth practitioners to existing professional groups. It is hoped that the transfer of expertise from these artists to young choristers will serve as inspiration for the next generation, encouraging them to keep on with the artform, and boosting their appetite for more learning experiences in the future.
