Join Chroma in an intimate setting, as they present a sampling of the rich English choral repertory with the first four of Hubert Parry’s Songs of Farewell. These pieces are settings of reflective poetry and meditations on death, which in the Christian tradition, is often viewed as a return home. Parry’s music adopts a German romantic harmonic idiom but is written with the English choral style. Chroma will also present a local arrangement of the elegiac hymn that names this programme.
Mask-wearing is optional. However, audiences are encouraged to continue to exercise responsibility and caution, such as wearing masks when in crowded places. No tickets will be issued. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Chroma
Chroma is a nascent collective of singers formed by Ellissa Sayampanathan and Gerard Lim, who seek to present programmes that grow audiences as well as musicians through the exploration of western classical vocal repertory. The ensemble comprises classically trained singers and choral conductors.
