Synopsis
Experience the dynamic energy and spirit of Japanese taiko at Singapore Taiko Matsuri, a special celebration marking SJ60 – the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Singapore and Japan.
Presented by HIBIKIYA Singapore, this special edition welcomes Oedo Sukeroku Taiko from Japan, a pioneering taiko group renowned for its dynamic naname-uchi (slant-drum) style and expertise.
Together with HIBIKIYA members and performers in Singapore, the programme showcases the power, rhythm and artistry of Japanese drumming through traditional and contemporary repertoire, complemented by the distinctive sounds of traditional Japanese instruments including shamisen, koto and shinobue (bamboo flute).
Through taiko and Japanese traditional music, the event celebrates cultural exchange, the joy of performing together, and the enduring friendship between Singapore and Japan.
