Synopsis

Low and Beholdspotlights the trombone and tuba as expressive, forward-facing instruments in contemporary music. Expect an immersive exploration of rich low sonorities, shifting textures and bold contrasts through new and recent works by Toh Yan Ee, alongside Steven Verhelst’s darkly playful Devil’s Waltz. Drawing from contemporary classical and modern brass traditions, this programme reveals the lyricism, intensity and surprising versatility of low brass in an intimate chamber setting.
