Esplanade Concert Hall
Composer and pianist Yuhki Kuramoto, who has enjoyed immense popularity in Korea with sold-out nationwide tours and continuous recording projects, will present his first concert in Singapore at the Esplanade Concert Hall on Tuesday, 9 June, at 7:30 PM.
Born in 1951, Yuhki Kuramoto made his official debut as a musician in 1986 at the age of 35. He holds a unique academic background, having studied applied physics at the Tokyo Institute of Technology. Initially more active as a composer and arranger than as a performer, he gained widespread recognition when Lake Louise, composed at the age of 33, became a major success. To date, he has written more than 350 compositions. His most celebrated works include Meditation, Nostalgia, Romance, and Dawn.
Kuramoto has also made significant contributions to film and television. He composed “Memory of Love” for the drama Jumong, performed by world-renowned soprano Sumi Jo, and his iconic piece Romance was featured in the film A Bittersweet Life, starring Lee Byung-hun and Shin Min-a. In 2025, he appeared on KBS2’s The Seasons – Park Bo-gum’s Cantabile, where his piano four-hands performance of Romance with actor Park Bo-gum attracted widespread attention. He has also shared the stage with fellow New Age pianist Yiruma at major events such as Park Concerts and Sky Festivals.
The program is divided into two parts. In Part I, Kuramoto will present a piano solo program centered on his lyrical and introspective works, including Meditation and Warm Affection. Part II will feature chamber arrangements with violinist Kim Ji-yoon, along with cello, flute, and clarinet, offering audiences beloved pieces such as Lake Louise and Romance in rich and harmonious ensemble textures.
