Quantum State is a contemporary fusion music concert that dreams of a world / state where all possibilities exist for humanity, nature and technology, and progress is inclusive and for all. In quantum mechanics, 'superposition' is a system which exists in a combination of all its possible states at once. The concert theme and music draws inspiration from this beautiful and unique characteristic of the subatomic world, and hopes to stir the imagination - how can we develop / build our world in a way that is mutually benenficial to both humanity and nature, while advancing technology at the same time.
Featuring original music by award-winning composer Tze Toh, the concert is a blend of jazz, film score, Indian music, classical music and Asian sounds and inspired by the music of Ryuichi Sakamoto, Ennio Morricone, Keith Jarrett and Yoko Kanno. The concert celebrates the power of science, and in particular, the invisible subatomic forces of human spirit, imagination and passion that connect and unite people across cultures, ethnicities and nationalities. As the world becomes progressively globalised, it also becomes like a single entity, i.e. a single state, one that is in constant change. A harmonious coming together of various forces makes everything and anything possible, creating limitless possibilities.
The concert reimagines the principles and theories in quantum mechanics in relation to human - nature - technology systems as a series of musical works, performed by Lazar T. Sebastien (Carnatic violin), Teo Boon Chye (saxophone), Wu Bingling (violin) and Tze Toh (piano).
