Looking for bandmates on Carousell, embracing the chaos of uncertain times, and building their own scene from one room to the next; what else can they do, when there is nowhere else to go? In Episode 2 of BACKLINES, weish meets with some of the youngest players in the scene—Del and Jae, the duo behind Room 526, and Bellied Star, a band fresh out of their teens. Together, they share memories of wild gigs, finding purpose when lost, and picking up a few tricks from the people who came before.
Through heartfelt conversations and immersive performances across genres and generations, we celebrate some of Singapore’s most exciting musicians and vital individuals who continue to build culture from the ground up, one room at a time.
In this intimate portrait of the music ecosystem, they reflect on formative spaces past and present, why physical spaces continue to matter, and uncover the stories, friendships, and quiet acts of perseverance behind every open door.
