Synopsis
Rafał Blechacz, born in 1985 in Nakło nad Notecią, Poland, is an internationally acclaimed pianist celebrated for his profound artistry, refined interpretations, and extraordinary musical intelligence. Since his historic victory at the 15th International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw in 2005, where he won not only the First Prize but also all special prizes, Blechacz has firmly established himself among the foremost pianists of his generation.
A graduate of the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, where he studied under Professor Katarzyna Popowa-Zydroń, Blechacz has performed with many of the world’s leading orchestras, including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre de Paris, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, and Orchestra dell’Accademia di Santa Cecilia. He has appeared in prestigious venues such as Philharmonie Berlin, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Teatro alla Scala Milan, and Wigmore Hall London, captivating audiences with his poetic depth and technical mastery.
In 2014, Blechacz was awarded the Gilmore Artist Award, one of the most prestigious accolades in classical music. An exclusive Deutsche Grammophon recording artist, his acclaimed discography spans works by Chopin, Debussy, Bach, and Szymanowski, earning numerous international honors including ECHO Klassik, Diapason d’Or, and Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik.
With his exceptional sensitivity, intellectual depth, and distinctive sound, Rafał Blechacz continues to inspire audiences worldwide as a true representative of the great Polish piano tradition.
Rafał Blechacz will make his Singapore debut at the Esplanade Concert Hall as part of Finger Waltz Piano Nights 2026, presenting an exquisite programme featuring works by Beethoven, Schubert, and Chopin—a celebration of timeless artistry and poetic expression.
