In this intimate programme, Alan Choo and HyunKun Cho explore gems of the Italian Baroque repertory. Performing on baroque instruments, they seek to bring out the rhetorical and conversational quality of the music, and to realize the full dramatic potential of these masterworks.
Alan Choo (baroque violin)
Alan Choo is the Founder and Artistic Director of Red Dot Baroque, the first professional baroque ensemble in Singapore. He is also the Concertmaster and Assistant Artistic Director of the Grammy-winning baroque orchestra in the USA, Apollo's Fire. His solo debut album of Biber's Mysery Sonatas with Apollo's Fire received rave reviews from The Strad and BBC Music Magazine, and debuted at #2 on the Billboard Classical charts. He was recently conferred the Young Artist Award 2024 by the National Arts Council and MCCY.
HyunKun Cho (baroque cello)
Spanish-Korean baroque cellist HyunKun Cho is a laureate of major early music competitions in the world, including 1st prize in the Berliner Bach Competition and Telemann Competition, and 3rd prize in the Bruges Early Music Competition. He is a frequent collaborator with artists such as Pedro Memelsdorff, Arlequin Philosophe, Michael Form, Au Pieds du Roy, La Guirlande and the Korea-based Idioma de la Musica.
