Formed in Taiwan, 聲子蟲 Bugs of Phonon has been making electronic-infused post-rock since May 2008. Comprising guitarists Chi-Ming Ko and Lu-Ming Lu, bassist Hsin-Feng Chiu and drummer Wei-Chun Gan, this four-piece creates massive auditory sculptures built from steady finger-picking and soaring feedback. Within these many layers lie carefully constructed scenes and narratives that take listeners on a journey through their mind.

After a decade between full-length releases, the band returned with Understory in 2022, followed by their third album, Long Haul, in 2025. Told through the perspectives of illness, fate and recovery, the album explores the fear, desperation and fragility that accompany illness, while reflecting on love and what it means to hold something dear.

The 25th edition of Baybeats, presented by Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay took place from 3 – 6 Sep 2026, bringing four days of alternative music across five stages.

Each year, Baybeats works hard to bring together a diverse mix of alternative artists, from Singapore and around the world.
