Wu Yanrong’s practice distils objects to their essence through minimal, deliberate gestures. Drawing from her background in Chinese calligraphy and graphic design, she balances structure and spontaneity, creating compositions that explore space, form and texture with both precision and fluidity.

This exhibition takes inspiration from the view of Marina Bay and its celebrated fireworks displays. From these fleeting bursts of light, Yanrong develops a quiet reflection on celebration and impermanence. Goldfish move through the pictorial space as painted echoes of fireworks, carrying their brilliance into a more intimate and contemplative form. Together, they suggest that joy exists both in collective moments of anticipation and in the quieter rhythms of everyday life, reminding us that beauty is often inseparable from its transience.
