Synopsis

Celebrate the Singapore spirit with works by local composers and arrangers in Tunes in Purple, specially commissioned for The Purple Symphony, Singapore’s largest inclusive orchestra. With its unique instrumentation and vibrant spirit, look forward to a fresh new way to experience music!

 

Enjoy original pieces inspired by everyday sights and sounds, alongside medleys blending classical music, folk tunes and beloved Singapore melodies. Highlights include excerpts from Bizet’s Carmen Suite, a xinyao medley by Liang Wern Fook, and Singapore-inspired works such as Kreta Ayer and Fortitude by Liong Kit Yeng.

  • Beautiful Sunday concerts are exclusively available for Esplanade&Me members. If you are not an Esplanade&Me member, sign up for free at esplanade.com/membership.

  • Esplanade&Me members will be able to register for up to 4 tickets per account.

  • All children must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets are required for all patrons including infants in arm.

  • Tickets are available for booking on a first-come, first-served basis. Should the event be fully subscribed, limited tickets may be made available when ticket-holders return their tickets. If you did not manage to get tickets, do check this event page regularly to see if tickets are available.

The Purple Symphony

The Purple Symphony, facilitated by the Central Singapore Community Development Council, debuted in 2015 as Singapore’s largest inclusive orchestra.

 

Comprising over 100 musicians with and without disabilities, the orchestra brings together five key sections: bowed and plucked strings, percussion, winds and choir.

 

More than a musical platform, The Purple Symphony fosters learning, collaboration and the celebration of abilities. It champions inclusion while uniting musicians to share their love of music and serve the community as one.
