Synopsis

The Fairfield Choir is thrilled to present a captivating selection of choral works at the Limelight Concert, showcasing their commitment to musical excellence and the rich tapestry of choral music. This concert promises to take the audience on a journey through various genres, styles and cultural expressions, reflecting the choir's dedication to both tradition and innovation.

The evening will open with A Festive Gloria, a vibrant and uplifting celebration that sets a joyful tone for the concert. The choir will then seamlessly transition into Exsultate Justi, a spirited composition that captures the essence of exuberance and invites listeners to share in its lively rhythm.

The emotional depth of the programme is highlighted in Weep, O Mine Eyes, which explores themes of loss and longing through poignant melodies. This is followed by As Torrents In Summer, a beautiful piece that evokes imagery of nature and the passage of time, offering a moment of reflection.

The audience will be treated to a classic love song, The Moon Represents My Heart 《月亮代表我的心》, expressing nostalgia and affection through its melodic beauty. This theme continues with Friendship Forever 《细水长流》, a touching song that reminisces about youthful aspirations and the enduring bonds of friendship. The lyrics reflect on shared experiences, from celebrating birthdays to supporting each other through life's ups and downs, capturing the essence of lasting companionship.

木の影 (Ki no Kage) further enriches the programme with its reflective qualities, drawing inspiration from nature and the interplay of shadows and light. The choir will then present Ubi Caritas, a moving piece that speaks to the importance of love and compassion in our lives.

The intriguing What is that I hear? invites the audience to ponder the sounds and meanings that surround us, leading into Wanting Memories (No. 4 from the song suite Crossings), a thoughtful composition that contemplates memory and emotion.

The uplifting Where the Light Begins encourages hope and the pursuit of positivity, while L'important C'est La Rose celebrates the simple joys of life and love through its charming melody.

The concert will culminate in the energetic Ta Na Solbici (And So We Dance in Resia), inviting both performers and audience to celebrate through movement and joy.

Under the guidance of conductor Yong Chee Foon and assistant conductor Wynne Lee, The Fairfield Choir continues to inspire and engage with its diverse repertoire, reinforcing the belief that music transcends barriers and connects us all. We invite you to join us for this memorable evening, where the joy of choral music will be celebrated in all its forms.
