Familiar yet elusive, intimate yet boundless, the sounds of contemporary Indian rock band Parvaaz is an otherworldly constellation of folk, blues, rock and psychedelia. Known for their evocative Kashmiri and Urdu lyrics paired with the imagery of Sufi and mystic poetry, the band is admired for both their musicianship and the literary depth of their songwriting.

Formed in Bengaluru in 2010, the band has become one of the most critically acclaimed independent bands in India with a near cult-like following, thanks to releases such as Behosh (2012), Baran (2014) and Kun (2019). They won the Toto Music Award (2015) and the Judges Choice for Best Rock Artist at the Radio City Freedom Awards (2017), and in 2018 graced the cover of Rolling Stone India, with the magazine calling their music “unmistakable, idiosyncratic, cinematic... there’s no other band that sounds anything like them.”

Following a line-up change in 2021, the band embarked on a multi-city tour and refreshed their sound, eventually releasing their acclaimed 2025 album, Na Gul Na Gulistan. Still rooted in their core, fusion sound, the album is haunting and introspective, aptly summed up by The Indian Music Diaries: “There’s loss but there’s redemption as well. Life is meaningless. Yet there is hope.”
