Synopsis

How do we create more intentionally with accessibility as the foundation of a work rather than afterthought or an external layer of accommodation?

Designed for artists, facilitators and creative practitioners, this workshop explores how non-verbal cues, sensory textures, and trauma-informed drama practices can be meaningfully integrated into the dramaturgical process. Through a combination of practitioner case studies and hands-on collaborative creation, participants will experiment with simple, everyday materials to develop inclusive, sensory-rich environments that respond to the diverse needs and experiences of audiences, including young people and Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (PWIDs).

The workshop will also examine selected techniques and approaches employed in the development and design of Paati’s Spice Kitchen, exploring how accessibility can be embedded within a performance’s dramaturgy, creative process and audience experience.
