Synopsis
Delve into the expressive and rhythmic world of kathak in this masterclass led by acclaimed dance artists Aakash Odedra and Rani Khanam.
Rooted in the traditions of Indian classical dance, kathak brings together intricate footwork, rhythmic precision, nuanced gesture, and expressive storytelling. Through guided exercises and movement explorations, participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of the form while discovering how rhythm, musicality, and expression come together in performance.
Drawing from their respective practices and experiences, Odedra and Khanam will also share their approaches to working with kathak, exploring the dynamic interplay between tradition and contemporary artistic expression, and how classical vocabulary can continue to evolve while remaining connected to its roots.
Offering an opportunity to learn directly from two distinctive practitioners, this masterclass invites participants to deepen their understanding of kathak not only as a dance form, but as a rich language for rhythm, movement, and storytelling.
