Synopsis

Dāstān: Kathak Through the Ages traces the evolving journey of kathak—from its roots in sacred storytelling and devotional traditions, through the refinement and elegance of the royal courts, to its expression on today’s stage.

Through rhythm, movement and storytelling, the presentation explores the many facets that have shaped the form across time—from devotional narratives and courtly grace to the intricate rhythmic vocabulary of pure kathak.

Bringing these influences into the present, Dāstān celebrates kathak as a living classical tradition that continues to evolve while remaining deeply connected to its artistic roots.
