Synopsis

There is a particular kind of playlist that belongs to anyone who grew up between languages — a Tamil song beside a Hindi one beside a Malayalam one, with no thought given to whether they belong together. An Indian Girl's Mixtape takes that instinct to the stage. Across an evening of soulful and up-tempo material, songs from Ilaiyaraaja, A.R. Rahman and the Hindi film songbook are reimagined for voice, keys and percussion, often in genres far from their originals. Nothing is played straight, and nothing is played for novelty. Just good songs, heard differently, in the company of people who love them.
