Reel, Bow, Strings! invites you to an unforgettable cinematic journey brought to life by the St. Margaret’s School (Secondary) String Ensemble. Through iconic film scores and beloved movie melodies, including Schindler’s List, Cinema Paradiso, How to Train Your Dragon, and The Greatest Showman, the ensemble captures the heart of each story with emotion, courage, and soul. From moments of quiet reflection and bittersweet longing to soaring melodies of hope, triumph, and joy, the strings convey the full spectrum of cinematic feeling. With each bow, they celebrate the power of music to tell stories, evoke deep emotions, and transport audiences into the worlds of their favourite films.

St. Margaret’s School (Secondary) String Ensemble

St. Margaret’s School (Secondary) String Ensemble was formed in 2003. Since then, it has provided many students with the opportunity to develop a passion for music. Under the baton of its conductor, Mr Siew Yi Li, the ensemble has grown in strength and currently comprises about 50 members.

 

Over the years, in addition to performing at numerous school events, charity concerts, and recitals, the St. Margaret’s School (Secondary) String Ensemble has also appeared on various platforms, including the In Youthful Company series at the Esplanade Concourse, the Singapore Anglican Community 50th Anniversary Dinner, and the “Art of Healing” series at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

 

The ensemble has participated in the Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation over the years, achieving the Distinction Award in 2021 and 2025, and the Accomplishment Award in 2023.
