Performance doesn’t always have to be an elaborate endeavour. In fact, more often than not, magic happens in the fleeting, in-between moments of play, spontaneity and chance.
Come watch Lynette Quek and Neo Jialing interact with everyday items—including, but not limited to: a toy piano, plastic trumpet, aluminium foil, barrier tape, parchment paper, satay sticks—to make music/ noise, chaos/ choreography. We’ll let you decide. ;)
No tickets will be issued. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Neo Jialing
Neo Jialing is a movement artist and a potato. Grounded in somatic, lived experiences, her practice is improvisatory, led by curiosity, absurdism, and vulnerability; moving when the whim takes ahold.
An active educator and creator for young audiences, Jialing helms the multi-disciplinary collective JAGA-EMOTE!, crafting experiences that help children navigate body safety and autonomy through play. She also facilitates musing through, a body-focused open jam, offering a space for the moving community to take time, meander and practice ecologies of care.
Lynette Quek
Lynette Quek is an audiovisual maker who experiments intuitively across forms of activation and performance methods.
Incarnations of her work include audiovisual installations, composition through sound manipulation, as well as cross-disciplinary performance with technology and objects. Often project-based and site-specific, her practice invites the audience to become activators, spanning mediums such as video, performance, sculpture, electronics—constantly expanding in form and approach.
